The Big Adventure Continues
Adding up Missouri and Kansas, 105 degree heat and some of the flattest land I have ever seen, we decided that wasn't enough! The motorhome decided to start acting up. Yep, plugged fuel filter. Remnants of a bad batch of fuel acquired in Kentucky last year. I changed out one of the two filters and away we went!
The next day, up and going again. This time we make it to Estes Park, Co. But again, not without some more adventure. Started up the mountains out of Kansas and the motorhome starts acting up again. Dang! Oh well, this time I change both fuel filters. Some nice folks in Flagler, Ks helped out with additional filters at twice the price I normally pay for them. So after a short delay, I get the filters changed and we arrive at Elk Meadows Lodge and RV Resort. You can see our view out the front window and some of the native wildlife.
We'll get settled in and then start seeing the sites.
More to come!

The Big Adventure of 2011, Part Two
While the Arch was being built by the firm then known as Pittsburgh Des Moines, it travelled through our home town of Warren, Pa. A lot of welding happened to it there.
The Big Adventure of 2011
The next day we got up and around and headed out to our next stop. Granite City, Illinois. Just so you know, it's a suburb of St. Louis. It will be the shortest drive of the trip. This KOA campground is in the middle of an industrial district but pretty well hidden from the surrounding environment.

I know it's been a long time since my last post. However, sometimes you just run out of hours in a day. Last weekend was our semi annual campout at a local venue. It's a come if you like type of an event for those that have an invitation. It's held the weekend of Father's day in June and the weekend after the Richmond NASCAR race in September. Anywhere from 10 to 20 RV's will show up and you never know who's going to be there until you get there.

For this weekend there were 12 RV's that showed up.

And what's a weekend get together without a campfire. Or if you're a real pyro you can play with the hollow logs. Four organ pipe fires at the same time. Was quite a sight to see.
