End of February. Checked in on the motorhome yesterday. Started the generator, started the coach, ran all the lights, heat pumps, jacks, and anything else I could think of. Everything seems to be in order. Can't wait till the end of March to bring it home.

Hi all. Just a quick mid-winter update. We just got about 8" of new snow, but that hasn't deterred me from thinking spring. Yesterday I pretty much finished up reservations for our big spring trip. Looks like a two week trip to the Unbridled Spirit of Kentucky. We'll see if we can't enjoy some bluegrass, blues and bar-b-que along with the wonders of nature.

As November grew closer and closer the reality set in that I needed to winterize the coach and pack it away for the winter. That has now been done and I am already antsy to get it back out in the spring. Have been to visit twice already. Must be something wrong with me.

I'm back. We decided to try our luck on getting out of the snow. So here I am hookin' up to to leave.


The first stop was in Columbus, OH to spend a night with my brother and his wife. They fed us a great meal and let us stay in their driveway. That was different. All the neighbors stopped by to see what was going on.

The next morning we packed up and headed for the Kentucy Horse PArk in Lexington, KY. If you like all things horse, this is the place. They have their own RV park (very nice), horse museum, working horse farm and some of the most famous horses in the racing world.

After two days in Kentucky we moved on to Tellico Plains, TN. Another KOA campground that was very nice. The Tiffin RV Network held the Southeast Region Fall Rally here. Met a bunch of great people, ate a bunch of great food, learned a bunch about Tiffin motorhomes and saw some tremendous scenery on the Cherohala Skyway.

Four days later we were on the move again. The next stop is the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair in Fletcher, NC. I think this was the first time we camped in a big parking lot.

If you have never been to one of these things, it's where people with a passion for all things fiber gather to commune. Alpacas, Llamas, Sheep, Goats and Rabbits. Yarn, Spinning, Weaving, Knitting and all their trappings. I stayed near the motorhome!

After eight days on the road it was time to head back home. Two short days of driving with a stop at the Stonewall Jackson Resort. My kinda place. Great scenery, nice campground, resort accomodations for those not camping, a spa for the ladies and an Arnold Palmer golf course! Need I say more.

Our campsite was about 150 feet from the sixth green.

And I'm going back!

2009 Travels

Travels for 2009 started by digging out the coach from storage in early April. Next was to get it all cleaned up, inside and out, and to start packing it up. We took a shot trip to the Buckaloons campground for a weekend shakedown. This was done to make sure all systems were working properly and we had everything packed. You can see through the windshield who is ready to go!






The month of May had us heading to Gettysburg, PA. We arrived at the campground only to find 450 boy scouts camped out for the weekend. Good we showed up on Saturday. They were packed up and gone by 10:00 am the next morning.

We took a private guided tour of the battlefield and found how little we knew of the battle that took place there. Smarter now. And more appreciative of the events that took place there. A couple of more days touring on our own kept us busy.








We took one day and drove over to Strassburg, PA and spent some time at the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum. Also rode the steam train. Another great day.
















The local camping group got together in June for a fun weekend. 15 RVs and about 50 people showed for the Saturday night potluck. A good time was had by all. That's all you need to know.

We were invited to travel with some friends to Amish country in Berlin, OH. Stayed at Scenic Hills campground for a four day weekend. Checked out all the shops, stores and restaurants. Mostly restaurants.









August travels took us to the WarrenCounty Fair as mentioned in an earlier post.


In September we ventured over to Watkins Glen. What a great place! We stayed at the local KOA that had just received KOA's campground of the year award.



Spent part of the day walking the length of the gorge. Be sure to bring your hiking shoes for this one. Especially the 180 plus steps up the final portion of the trail.














The next couple of days the guys spent at the race track watching the Watkins Glen Historic Gran Prix races and all of us enjoyed the reenactment of the old course in town. This picture is just one of the hundreds of cars that were around for the weekend festivities. Of course the ladies did some wandering in the local shops while we were at the track.
