I know it's been a long time since my last post. However, sometimes you just run out of hours in a day. Last weekend was our semi annual campout at a local venue. It's a come if you like type of an event for those that have an invitation. It's held the weekend of Father's day in June and the weekend after the Richmond NASCAR race in September. Anywhere from 10 to 20 RV's will show up and you never know who's going to be there until you get there.





For this weekend there were 12 RV's that showed up.

And what's a weekend get together without a campfire. Or if you're a real pyro you can play with the hollow logs. Four organ pipe fires at the same time. Was quite a sight to see.

And after each good trip, You just need to get cleaned up. So I spent most of the Memorial Day weekend washing and waxing the Motorhome. Just though I'd let you know.

Spring 2010 Trip to Kentucky

Our first trip of the 2010 season was to the Unbridled Spirit of Kentucky.

The first stop over was at Caeser Creek State Park in Ohio.

The next day had us traveling to Berea where we stayed for a couple of days. Visited the Folk Arts Center of America around the Berea College area. Listened to Warren May play on some of his hand made Dulcimers.

Next we moved on to the Frankfort/Lexington area for the real reason for this trip. The First Annual Kentucky Fiber Festival. Yeah, I know. What the heck is that?

Maybe this will give you a
small taste of a fiber festival.

And of course Pam found a new friend. His name is Dodger.

Artie liked taking in the scenery at Elkhorn campground.

And if you ever go to Kentucky, you just have to visit the Horse Park. All things horse happen here.

On the other hand, here is another great place to visit. The oldest distillary in Kentucky. Built in 1812. Well, not the part you're looking at. But I've only got so much room to do this.

Yes, we did get samples!




For the final leg of the journey, we traveled over to the Land Between the Lakes region. Stayed at Hillman Ferry campground.

We visited with all the big boys and girls of the Prairie. Spent the better part of 30 minutes in the middle of a herd of 32 Bison. Just amazing to be in among these magnificiant animals.

And when it was all said and done, we just had to go back and relax. What a great campsite we had. Too bad the journey had to end.

End of February. Checked in on the motorhome yesterday. Started the generator, started the coach, ran all the lights, heat pumps, jacks, and anything else I could think of. Everything seems to be in order. Can't wait till the end of March to bring it home.

Hi all. Just a quick mid-winter update. We just got about 8" of new snow, but that hasn't deterred me from thinking spring. Yesterday I pretty much finished up reservations for our big spring trip. Looks like a two week trip to the Unbridled Spirit of Kentucky. We'll see if we can't enjoy some bluegrass, blues and bar-b-que along with the wonders of nature.

As November grew closer and closer the reality set in that I needed to winterize the coach and pack it away for the winter. That has now been done and I am already antsy to get it back out in the spring. Have been to visit twice already. Must be something wrong with me.

I'm back. We decided to try our luck on getting out of the snow. So here I am hookin' up to to leave.


The first stop was in Columbus, OH to spend a night with my brother and his wife. They fed us a great meal and let us stay in their driveway. That was different. All the neighbors stopped by to see what was going on.

The next morning we packed up and headed for the Kentucy Horse PArk in Lexington, KY. If you like all things horse, this is the place. They have their own RV park (very nice), horse museum, working horse farm and some of the most famous horses in the racing world.

After two days in Kentucky we moved on to Tellico Plains, TN. Another KOA campground that was very nice. The Tiffin RV Network held the Southeast Region Fall Rally here. Met a bunch of great people, ate a bunch of great food, learned a bunch about Tiffin motorhomes and saw some tremendous scenery on the Cherohala Skyway.

Four days later we were on the move again. The next stop is the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair in Fletcher, NC. I think this was the first time we camped in a big parking lot.

If you have never been to one of these things, it's where people with a passion for all things fiber gather to commune. Alpacas, Llamas, Sheep, Goats and Rabbits. Yarn, Spinning, Weaving, Knitting and all their trappings. I stayed near the motorhome!

After eight days on the road it was time to head back home. Two short days of driving with a stop at the Stonewall Jackson Resort. My kinda place. Great scenery, nice campground, resort accomodations for those not camping, a spa for the ladies and an Arnold Palmer golf course! Need I say more.

Our campsite was about 150 feet from the sixth green.

And I'm going back!
